Neck Deep are a Pop Punk Band from Wrexham, Wales. The band was formed in 2012 by Ben Barlow (Lead Vocals) and Lloyd Roberts (Former Lead Guitar). The pair recorded the song “What Did You Expect” and posted it online in April 2012, which generated a relatively large amount of attention and gained them an online presence. This resulted in Dani Abasi (drummer), Matt West (rhythm guitarist), and Fil Thorpe-Evans (former bassist) joining the band. The group then recorded “I Couldn’t Wait to Leave 6 Months Ago” and posted it in June 2012, and 3 days later announced they had signed to We Are Triumphant, a US label.
Following the release of EP “Rain in July” in September 2012, Neck Deep supported With The Punches and Me Vs Hero on tour in the UK in December 2012, with the band’s live debut on the 3rd of December 2012. They signed with a manager at their second live show, and went on to support Hacktivist on their UK tour in February 2013. During this time, the band released “A History of Bad Decisions”, their second EP, as a “pay what you want” download. Both of the band’s EPs were recorded by Barlow’s older brother, Seb.
Following their rising popularity, Neck Deep went on a holiday to Florida with their tour manager and ended up playing two extremely successful and popular shows that sold out. US label Hopeless Records saw videos of these shows online and contacted the band’s manager who directed the label to speak with the band directly. In August 2013 the band signed with Hopeless Records, which they said was a dream come true. They have since released 3 albums: Wishful Thinking, Life’s Not Out To Get You, and The Peace and the Panic.
Lloyd Roberts left Neck Deep in August 2015 following sexual misconduct allegations that he was later cleared of, so as not to tarnish the growing reputation of the band. Sam Bowden joined in his place as lead guitar and backing vocalist in December 2015.
